INTERVIEW
I am the owner of a charming little tea shop that serves very good teas from Camellia Sinensis.
1. Describe what you do.
I hold at the salon Le T Room the Épices de Cru, of Ethné and Philippe De Vienne. I cook great fresh scones (the best, I hear) every day, cakes and pies: a real treat, according to my customers. My gift store offers many varieties of unique items and different works of art from artists that I enjoy as well as some of my own work.
2. What do you like most about your job?
What I love most is creating new cakes, new recipes that I have clients try out. I have a lot of fun meeting people who are very different and who have things to say, and I like to please them with my cakes.
3. What is the achievement you are most proud of?
My business, which I created one scone at a time. I learn new things every day and I am proud of what I have accomplished so far. Last year, I won the Coup de Coeur award from the Town of Brome Lake, which is a great source of pride for me.
4. What hobby or project are you currently passionate about?
Currently, I am moving my business to a beautiful location in the heart of Knowlton village. Having been an interior designer for almost 20 years, it is a real passion for me to make this place a little jewel of a tea room with a beautiful atmosphere where I can offer a little happiness to people from here and elsewhere. What I am also passionate about is the Afternoon Tea (High Tea) service. Yes, yes! with the little cucumber sandwiches and company! I love to create an elaborate menu to make my clients drool. It will take place on Sundays twice a month. This is what I want to offer in this new space, which I hope will become a meeting place for people from the village, the Eastern Townships and elsewhere.
YOUR FAVORITES IN THE REGION
5. What do you like about the area?
We moved to Knowlton 8 years ago and I love the area for its landscapes and for the friendly and welcoming people here. The surrounding villages are unique and all offer a little something different. The winters are full of breathtaking landscapes.
6. Do you know of a well-kept treasure in the Townships that deserves to be known?
The Knowlton Marina is a real treasure, well kept, but also well known, from where one has access to Brome Lake with its magnificent views and sunsets. The terrace overlooks the lake: what could be more pleasant in summer than to have a good sangria at La Marina and to rub shoulders with the residents, the owners and friends. I love it!
