Picnic around Sutton

One sunny morning, I had a stroke of genius! Why not take advantage of this ideal weather to have a picnic in the Eastern Townships? So, with my backpack, a cooler, my little family and I headed to the Eastern Townships in search of the best picnic spots with the most breathtaking scenery as a backdrop to our outing.

The best delicatessens can be found here
THE AFFAMED RUMOR – Sutton

Before climbing to the top of Sutton or going for a crazy mountain bike excursion on the newly opened trails, opened by the volunteers of PLEIN AIR SUTTON, please your taste buds at La Rumeur Affamée. This local grocery store offers delicious local products as well as a large selection of cheeses and artisanal breads. Note that they also have a point of sale in the city of Dunham.

LA MIE BRETONNE – Cowansville

This artisanal bakery has been all the rage since it opened in 2009 and for good reason. With an impressive professional background in the art of pastry both in the French region of Brittaney and in Montreal, chef and co-owner Jean-Sébastien creates true gourmet wonders. Once you’ve filled your basket with breads, pastries and Viennese treats, I invite you to head to Cowansville’s Nature Center, where you’ll find many fun facilities for the whole family.

For a colorful, nutrient-rich basket
LE PARADIS DES PETITS FRUITS – Dunham

If you want to balance the contents of your basket with even healthier products, rich in nutrients and vitamins, I invite you to discover this family organic fruit farm.

The Poitras-Charbonneau family welcomes you to pick your own fruit, taste their natural honey and supplement your fresh supplies with products grown in an environmentally friendly manner. A must before or after your trip on the WINE ROUTE or for a walk in a vineyard.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our region as much as you enjoy our beautiful nature as well as satisfying your stomachs with our delicious products! And if you want to celebrate this glorious day with a little more panache, add a tasty bottle of La Route des Vins to your meal. Bon appétit!… And here’s to your health!
