HOLLYWOOD COMES HERE TO CREATE “THREE PINES

There is a large film production in the area from October 13 to 23. Three Pines is a fictional village in the Eastern Townships.

Eight episodes of a television series called Three Pines, based on the crime novels of Canadian author Louise Penny, are currently being filmed.

Louise Penny’s novels are a huge success. Over 7M copies sold. The addition of this mega TV series will create a phenomenal snowball effect. The series is directed by the person who produced one of Netflix’s biggest hits: The Crown.

MANY TOURISTS NEXT YEAR
Expect a tourist tsunami in the years to come. This film production will create a huge craze for the region. Three Pine is presented as the idyllic village to discover. In fact, fans of his novels know this: Three Pines is Knowlton’s village.

BEST SELLER IN THE UNITED STATES
Penny’s first novel on Gamache, Still Life, was published in 2005 and she has published 14 other books in the series (number one on the New York Times bestseller list). She has won five Agatha Awards, which recognize authors whose books characterize the work of Agatha Christie.

WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION
The eight-hour series will be shot from August to December and will be launched exclusively on Prime Video in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Greenland. Sony Pictures Television will handle all other international sales. In 2021, a poll of Washington Post readers named Chief Inspector Armand Gamache the most beloved fictional detective, beating out characters like Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot.

HISTORY
The title, Three Pines, refers to the fictional French-Canadian village in which Chief Inspector Gamache operates. The series follows Chief Inspector Armand Gamache (Alfred Molina) of the Sûreté du Québec, a man who sees what others do not. While investigating a series of murders in the seemingly idyllic village of Three Pines, he uncovers long-buried secrets and confronts some of his own ghosts.

THE STAR OF THE SERIES
Armand Gamache is played by a great actor: Alfred Molina. He played in Frida, in Chocolat (as the mayor of a small French town), The Da Vinci Code. He played Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (December 2021).

TOURNAGE
The shooting will take place in the Eastern Townships, the region of Quebec where the novels are set. An important shooting takes place from October 13 to 23, in the village of St-Armand.
