Discover this duck in Brome Lake

Many naturalists and hunters consider the Wood Duck(Aix sponsa) to be the most beautiful duck in North America, if not the world. The male, in the nuptial plumage that he wears from October to June, surpasses in beauty all his congeners. Their wings are very characteristic. Attached to the wing above the wrist, the primary remiges, which are the ten outermost flight feathers, are dark in color. The outer vexillae of these feathers appear to have been sprayed with aluminum paint, a unique feature among North American ducks.
