Welcome

Welcome to the Eastern Townships

Put down your luggage, you have arrived in this part of the country proudly called Eastern Townships. Less than an hour from Montreal, the region enjoys an exceptional location. In addition, it borders the United States for over 300 km. Welcome to the Eastern Townships.

See how beautiful it is!

You will first be conquered by our mountains. From the outset, this impression of gigantism with peaks culminating at more than a thousand meters in altitude and lakes of glacial origin, the most majestic in Quebec. The wooded hills preserve small enclosed villages, sometimes with British Victorian architecture, sometimes with the scent of Ireland and Scotland.

On the road, everywhere in the countryside, unusual buildings appear: round barns the color of ox blood and covered bridges among the oldest in Quebec. We were expecting a field of wheat, here is a vineyard. Two wine routes crisscross the hillsides dotted with orchards. In all, there are 29 winemakers who share their passion for the vine and wine. A little further on, a city teeming with people comes to life. To the sound of music, we dance and celebrate. On the country tables, our creative Chefs have masterfully placed fine local dishes. An ice wine and a blue cheese will surprise the gourmets.

The agri-tourism producers work well with the innkeepers and restaurant owners. More than 80 growers pamper the land. Fine regional cuisine and local gastronomy are the anchor of our way of life.

Outdoor destination par excellence

Here, nature is omnipresent and the outdoors is experienced over four seasons. We have not one, not two, not three, but four national parks that provide access to a quality environment, an incredible wealth for outdoor enthusiasts.

The region is undoubtedly the ideal place to practice biking, hiking, golf, skiing, snowshoeing or to take advantage of the many attractions such as the ASTROLab of
Mont-Mégantic National Park
the first international dark sky reserve.

The Route des Sommets
The Route des Sommets, 193 km long, traces the impressive curves formed by the highest mountains in southern Quebec!

A signposted tourist route, named
The Townships Trail
follows the footprints left by the Americans, Loyalists, Irish and Scots in the region.
