Vincent Vallières’ favorites

He returned to his native region, in Magog. He reveals to us what he loves so much.

The most beautiful place to appreciate the beauty of the Eastern Townships?

The Ridge Trail, in the Parc national du Mont-Orford. I like to run it, but you can also walk it. The trail is winding and reveals majestic views, another perspective of the area. It is a perfect place to find serenity.

The best place to have a beer with friends?

At the Siboire, in Sherbrooke. The beer is good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I love that it has revived the old train station, which had been a bit derelict (a second branch opened in 2014 near Lake of Nations).

The best coffee in town?

I’m not a big coffee drinker, but the atmosphere and the breakfasts are very good at the Pierre Jean Jase, a little island of beauty in the area. Even though I no longer live in the area, I still go back several times a year. The service is really nice.

The most beautiful village in the region?

It’s too hard to answer: there are so many beautiful ones! But I really like Saint-Venant-de-Paquette, for its poetry trail, Compton, for its Comptonnales (a gourmet fair in September), and Eastman, for its Correspondances (a literary festival in August).
