What do you like most about our region?
In addition to the exceptional panoramas, it is the people who live there. They are genuine and concerned about the welfare of their fellow citizens. My travels have made me realize that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Unfortunately, too few of us realize this. We are truly spoiled, as most people can only dream of living in our bucolic villages and surrounding areas. We are truly blessed with great restaurants, inns, golf courses, great ski resorts, clear lakes and rivers.
Do you know of a well-kept treasure in the Cantons that deserves to be known?
The falls on the chemin de la Falaise. You take the road to Mont-Écho, in Lac-Brome. Near the T-junction, turn left, there is a parking lot. A beautiful place to walk in summer…
What is your favorite restaurant in the Townships?
I really like the West Brome Inn for its chef, and its wine list is quite complete. Restaurant à La Fontaine, in Sutton, appeals to me for its dishes that stand out in the region.
And your favorite regional product?
Vitality Elderberry Farm has excellent products made from the much sought after elderberry. The farm is already the largest producer of elderberry in Canada and is located at 851 Knowlton Road in West Brome (tel.: 450 531-0093). Web
