8 things that make you want to go to Sutton

Here are some of the things you could do:

GREETING ALPACAS

If those bushy faces don’t put you in a good mood, there’s not much hope! At the Alpagas Sutton farm, made up of century-old buildings at the foot of the Appalachians, you can take part in a guided tour and meet some alpacas, before shopping for a toque, scarf or really soft socks at the boutique.

TAKING THE AIR

The Sutton Natural Environment Park may not have the most attractive name, but make no mistake, it is a little gem: it includes two peaks and 52 km of marked trails for snowshoeing or winter hiking. Good news for those who have dogs: they are allowed in the park.

DRINK MICROBREWERY BEERS

On Sutton’s main street, La Brouërie, which is also a small inn, offers a dozen original beers brewed on the premises in a very warm setting. This weekend, it will be transformed into a pop-up sugar shack.

DRINK OTHER MICROBREWERY BEERS

Although Sutton has less than 4000 inhabitants, it has not one, but two microbreweries. And they’re practically next door to each other, so no excuses: go taste the beers brewed by the À L’Abordage team.

STOP FOR A LATTE…

While you’re in Sutton, you’ll want to explore the downtown area and its stores and art galleries. The best part? Walking down the main street with a coffee in hand. Locate Le Cafetier microbrewery and taste one of the coffees roasted on site.

… OR A HOT CHOCOLATE

If you prefer a hot chocolate, opt for the Belgian Chocolaterie Muriel, in the heart of the village.

CAMPING IN A POD

In the heart of the Sutton Mountains, the Diable Vert offers a wide range of accommodations in nature. The most unusual are undoubtedly the “Pods”, small triangular wooden huts. The pods are rustic (outdoor toilets), but they stay warm with a wood stove.
